中国でのサファリパークに対して非難の声が上がっている。生きたままの牛や鳥を「エサ」としてトラに食べさせていることが「残酷だ」というのだ。J-CASTニュースでは中国のサファリパークの担当者を電話で直撃取材したところ、「動物ショーではなく、自然に戻すための訓練の一環だ」という反論が返ってきた。
トラを自然に戻すための訓練を行うのが目的

やり玉に挙げられているのは、いわゆるサファリパーク形式の動物園で、観光客はトラが生活する様子をバスから見物できる仕組みになっている。観光客の前で虎にエサをやる生々しい様子が2007年5月24日、フジテレビ系で放映され、波紋が広がっているのだ。番組では、トラックから降ろされた、生きたままの牛にトラが群がる様子や、バスの中から生きた鶏などをトラに食べさせる様子が映し出されている。また、これを見て歓声を上げる観光客の様子も確認できる。

こんな様子に対して、番組では、動物愛護団体の男性が「これはあまりに残酷で悲惨。ご覧なさい、かわいそうな動物を」と嘆く声を紹介、やや批判的に報じている。また、別の番組では「エサを見物客が購入している」と報じてもいる。

これを受けてネット上でも「見る人から見れば残酷ショーみたいなもんだろ」「北京オリンピックボイコットでＯＫだね」といった反響が広がっていた。

わざわざエサを生きたまま食べさせる目的は何なのだろうか。J-CASTニュースの中国人スタッフが、同園の担当者に話を聞いてみると、こんな答えが返ってきた。
「動物ショーが目的の施設ではありません。希少種であるトラの遺伝子を守るために保護し、自然に戻すための訓練を行うのが目的です。生きている動物をエサとして与えているのは訓練の一環で、死んだ動物を与えても訓練にはなりません」

「そのような質問にはお答えできません」
このように「訓練の一環」と主張したが、「『残酷だ』という苦情は来ていないのか」と聞くと、「そのような質問にはお答えできません」と、回答を拒否されてしまった。

　　番組中では「ハルビン野生動物公園」と紹介されていた動物園の名前は、正確には「ハルビン東北虎林園」。確かに06年7月1日の朝日新聞では、同園のことを「現在、世界の動物園には(「東北トラ」は)計千数百頭が飼育されているとされるが、10年前にできたハルビンの同園がそのうちの約半分を占めることになる」としており、飼育機関としては、かなり大規模であることを伺わせる。

　　ちなみに、同記事でも「運が良ければ、トラが鶏を捕まえて食べるところも見られる」 と紹介されている。

Popular Korean belief is that due to the adrenaline rush it creates, the more painful the death, the tastier the meat. Dogs are usually killed by slow hanging, beating (often in combination), electric shock through the tongue, and particularly for cats, drowning in large drums or pounding to death in Hessian sacks. The fur is burned off with a blowtorch, and not necessarily after the animal is dead.
Puppies and kittens have a more "delicate flavor", and are often boiled for broth or "Goyangi-tan" (liquid cat)

The Korean authorities have claimed that the only dogs eaten there are the native "yellow dog" specially bred for the purpose．
On 27th June 2004, SBS TV News broadcast a video secretly filmed at a Korean dog meat market. Although it is in Korean, the images speak for themselves. This video proves that pedigree dogs are bred for fur & food, in the video it shows a breeding farm with Golden Retriever, Spaniels and more.

Animals are routinely hacked to pieces, skinned and boiled alive in an attempt to add flavour, in countries such as China, Vietnam and South Korea.
Whilst some countries in Asia such as Hong Kong, the Philippines and Taiwan have banned the practice of dog eating, evidence shows that in China, the biggest dog eating country in the world, it continues to thrive.

　Cosmetic testing on animals is used to gain inaccurate results to legally market potentially dangerous products, as animals re-act completely differently from chemicals than we do, faulty results can be achieved - this is why some companies prefer to use them, despite the fact they are more expensive, but they're innacurate so when they hurt someone because they sold a dangerous product that they didn't test accurately, they don't get their ass' sued off and they can blame their research. But cosmetic animal tests have been replaced by cheaper, safer and more accurate tests that won't gain faulty results.
