「明治天皇と日露大戦争」
　開戦経緯から終戦まで、本作に非常にスタイルの近い作品。様々な戦局をその流れに沿って紹介し、その舞台裏での政局の動き、そして明治天皇の視点から、いかに日本は国家の一大決戦を戦ったのかを描き出します。
　日露戦争モノの映画の中では最高傑作との呼び声高い名作です。

「二百三高地」
　日露戦争における陸軍作戦の代名詞となった旅順攻略戦が舞台。失敗を重ねた総攻撃、地獄絵図と化した二百三高地の戦いへ、第三軍の乃木希典司令をはじめ一下士官の視点からも、攻防戦の凄絶さはもちろん様々に交錯する感情と人間模様が綴られていきます。ラストの乃木将軍の奏上シーンは圧巻。

「日本海大海戦」
　こちらは海軍側の活躍を描いた作品。旅順港口閉塞の失敗、運命の９月、そして日本海海戦へ。聯合艦隊はいかにして奇跡のパーフェクトゲームを為し得たのか。その陰にあった様々な葛藤と東郷長官の人柄にスポットが当てられます。二百三高地と併せて見るべし。
　後に作られた「日本海大海戦・海ゆかば」も有名。

「日露戦争がよくわかる本」
　俺はこれを見て勉強しました。初心者向けの解説書ですが、上級者でも知らないような最新の資料までを紹介し、さらに忘れられがちな反戦論者の主張まで網羅。日露戦争のみどころについてはこの一冊で十分理解できるでしょう。
　ただし、朝鮮半島関連の情報は、明らかに（反日的な）別人によって編纂されています（笑）。

「戦記クラシックス　日露戦争」
　中級者向け。陸軍と海軍の両面に関する非常に多数の写真、資料が盛り込まれています。

○日露戦争は全然関係ない作品
「傭兵の誇り―日本人兵士の実録体験記」
　最近ブックオフで買って読んでショックを受けました。
　本物の傭兵、高部正樹 氏による体験記。バイトして資金を貯めてまで戦地に戦いに行く孤高のバトルマニアによる一冊。現代人がとっくに忘れ去ってしまった戦う男の美学がここに。
　「人類皆平等、そう信じているヤツは一度この戦場に立ってみるといい。そんな考えは跡形もなく消し飛ぶだろう。」

「アニメンタリー 決断」
　大東亜戦争を描いたアニメです。「人生で最も貴重な瞬間、それは決断の時である。太平洋戦争は我々に平和の尊さを教えたが、生きるための教訓もまた数多く残している」。
　メチャメチャ面白い作品です。ＴＶ放送当時はプロ市民の抗議やらニクソンショック（要するに中国と仲良くしなきゃいけなくなった）やらで２５回で打ち切られましたが、今年になってＤＶＤで復活しました。軍国主義全開の主題歌も必聴！
　全話を納めたDVD-BOXも。

ついでに、９月５日に公開が間に合わなければコイツのせいにするところでした。

Japanese submarine aircraft carriers
Although the U.S. Navy remained discreet about it, the Japanese were ahead of the Allies in several areas of submarine development and underwater weapons. The I-400 class of Japanese submarines was the largest in the world until the 1960s when the nuclear fleets were built.
The Japanese applied the concept of the "submarine aircraft carrier" extensively. Altogether 47 submarines were built with the capability to carry seaplanes. Most IJN submarine aircraft carriers could carry only one aircraft, but the I-14 had a hangar space for 2 aircraft, and the giant I-400 class submarines could carry 3.

You can see friendly Chinese citizens. They are fearless.

In the last stage of World War 2, the Japanese military developed a suicidal attack unit called the Special attack force. The Japanese pilots would attempt to crash their planes into the enemy target knowing full well that they would not return. They were not brainwashed or insane. They died to defend their country and family. I am deeply grateful to these heroic soldiers and I pray their souls may rest in peace.
